Create an Empty Bowl to bring awareness to food insecurity

Empty Bowls Carson City is a yearly event put on by Friends in Service Helping, or F.I.S.H, to remind people of homelessness and hunger and that there are many people out there with empty bowls when it’s time to eat a meal. Food insecurity is an issue that impacts every community, whether you see it or not.

At Ogres Holm Pottery, we help you create and decorate bowls to donate for the event.

Our Empty Bowls Bowl Making classes are completely free as we invite 15 people into the studio every other Tuesday to create and paint bowls. There is no experience necessary, as we will teach you everything you need to know to make and decorate a pottery bowl.

Our partnership with F.I.S.H and our Empty Bowls bowl-making night remind us of how beautiful it can be when the community comes together to support a cause. Donating handcrafted bowls that have been created with purpose throughout the entire process of bowl making is what really makes this class special for us.

If you have any interest in creating your own handcrafted bowls for the event, whether you’re a beginner or a pro, and want to give back to the community, our Empty Bowl-making nights are the perfect place to be.

The Empty Bowl community event takes place in the Carson Mall on December 2, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with admission $15 per person. All kinds of foods that are eaten out of a bowl will be provided for guests. At the end of the event, guests can choose to bring their bowl home with them as a reminder of what the event is all about. It’s a unique fundraising opportunity for our friends at F.I.S.H to help them continue to feed and help those in the community who need it most.
